"Antiques Week" in New Hampshire is just a few short weeks away and we're hoping to see all of you there. This once-a-year event is the greatest concentration of wonderful antiques and antiques dealers you'll see anywhere, we guarantee you won't be disappointed! The first show of the week is Barnstar's Picker's Market on Monday, August 4th from 9AM to 4PM, a wonderful country show with 113 great dealers, a "not to be missed" event. On Wednesday, August 6th from 9AM to 6PM and Thursday, August 7th from 11AM to 5PM you can see us and 111 other dealers at Barnstar's "Midweek in Manchester Show", acclaimed by many as "the best show of antiques week", come see for yourself, we're sure you'll agree.  18th century New England highchair made entirely of ash. Classic New England splay in a dry, natural surface with good color and an old rush seat. 34.5" tall.

Early 19th century oil on canvas portrait of an apothecary preparing a bottle of medicine seated next to an apothecary cupboard filled with an assortment of jars. 38" x 33".

 


 Mid 18th century Rhode Island banister back armchair with mushroom handholds. Cylindrical arms with ball turned stretchers below and tall ball-on-spool finials. Shaped crest and backrail add to the folky quality of this outstanding chair. Very old splint seat and old black paint. Very broad proportions. 44" tall, 17" seat height.

18th century New England pine sawbuck table with it's original one board top in the best color and patina. Base is in old, if not original, dark mustardy brown paint. Top is 68.75" x 28 3/8", 26.5" tall.

Rare early 19th century wood and tinned sheet iron beeswax waxjack.  13.5" tall.

18th century New England one drawer wall box in white pine with worn, original red paint. Second set of leather hinges are 19th century (original hinges still in place). Crest shows hand tooling marks, both storage well and nailed drawer are divided in half which is an original feature. Wrought nails have spread their oxidation into surrounding wood. Fabulous wear!!! 12" wide x 11.25" deep x 19" tall.

19th century oil on board sign from the "Old Corner Bookstore", Boston, Massachusetts. "Upstairs to the Rare Book Department". 25.25" x 13"

Small pair of 17th century brass capstan candlesticks, Dutch or Portuguese with the best color and patina. 3.75" tall.

Mid 18th century New England one door pantry cupboard with original HL hinges. White pine throughout. Details include shaped apron, cutout feet and beaded door surround. Top board has a moulded edge with an applied cornice moulding below. Backboards show adz marks and handplaning, original rosehead nails throughout. Three interior shelves plus bottom board. Backside of door incorporates inset tapered sliding dovetails to prevent warpage. A wonderful cupboard in very old, worn red wash. The picture doesn't do it justice!!! Case is 35 5/8" wide x 18 1/8" deep. 67 1/8" tall.

18th century wood and wrought iron adjustable, floor standing lighting device with it's original stoneware weight, which is a very rare feature. Original condition throughout with the best color and patina. Adjusts from 48.25" to 67.25".

 

 

 


Early 18th century New England X-based candlestand of oak and maple. Oak base has chamfered feet. Maple block and turned post has double baluster turning. Single board maple dish-top is mounted on a finely moulded and detailed batten and held in place with rosehead nails. Removal of later overpaint has left a great deal of original red with a good surface quality. Top is 16.75" in diameter, 29.5" tall.
